Patients often return to Bridgwater Hospital following treatment at Musgrove Park Hospital so they can be closer to their home and families.
The Mary Stanley Wing is a small midwife led maternity unit which provides eight postnatal beds and a birthing room.

Bridgwater Hospital Redevelopment
In late 2005, Somerset Coast PCT consulted on proposals for implementing a new local delivery of care service for the population of Bridgwater. Following the consultation, a formal Outline Business Case was submitted to the Strategic Health Authority for consideration in January 2006. The outline plans have been made by the New Hospital Project team and made available for Public view in November 2009. The proposals are to be submitted to the Board in December 2009 to consider the plans and for funding consideration.
