Environmental Partnerships

NHS Somerset works with a number of stakeholders in order to better understand and communicate the wide range of environmental issues which can affect our work. We also play a role in many partnerships and projects which aim to improve the environment in our region.

NHS Somerset is working jointly with:

  •  Somerset County Council’s ‘Moving Somerset Forward’ team. To establish effective travel plans across the NHS Somerset estate

  • Private, public and third sector partners who have a role or responsibility in the natural and built environments. The intention is to work collaboratively in order to achieve objectives such as increasing physical activity, reducing obesity, and improving mental health and wellbeing

  • Local Authority Planners. The intention is to; ensure that large developments and regeneration at the planning stage promote and create health-enabling built and natural environments, influence all District and County planning document consultations to maximise health considerations and facilitate the consideration of the need for primary care infrastructure and its funding through s106 monies

  • Local Strategic Partnerships (LSPs)

  • NHS Somerset employees and tenants in order to facilitate efficiency and emission savings

  • Neighbouring NHS Trusts in order to share best practice examples of sustainability projects
