Healthy Eating

Eating a balanced and varied det is important in keeping yourself healthy.  Eating a poor diet can increase the risk of diseases and conditions such as:

  •  diabetes

  • cardiovascular diseases

  • high blood pressure 

  • some cancers

The link on the right contains further information on how  you can eat a healthy and varied diet and make use of fruit and vegetables in your daily meals.  There are also a number of recipes you can try out.

Physical Activity

Nationally, there is a growing trend in the number of people who are not sufficiently active to benefit their health.  This is defined as:

  • adults - should aim to achieve a minimum of 30 minutes of moderate intensity activity on 5 or more days of the week

  • children - should aim to achieve at least one hour of physical activity per day; two of these days should include activities to enhance flexibility and strength
