Tips to protect your family from secondhand smoke

Make it a rule for all your family and friends that your home and car are smokefree. Ask people who want to smoke to always go outside

Set up an outside smoking area and leave an umbrella by the door

Remove all ashtrays and lighters from your house and car

Freshen up your home. Clean curtains, bedding, paintwork, carpets and windows

Ask other people who may be looking after your children in their homes not to smoke when your children are there
