NHS Somerset is committed to raising the standards of care delivered to patients and enhancing the patient’s experience of healthcare services, through the attainment of national quality standards and service targets. The Primary Care Trust has implemented a robust and integrated performance framework to monitor progress against the key targets and objectives, across the breadth of its responsibilities.
The NHS Somerset performance management framework aims to:

reflect the Primary Care Trust’s key priorities

ensure that effective monitoring and reporting mechanisms are in place across the whole of the organisation

ensure that directorates have ownership of, and are accountable for, their targets

ensure that action is being undertaken, where necessary, to address any areas of underperformance

ensure that performance frameworks are included as an integral part of Primary Care Trust business cases and project plans

Performance against all Vital Signs 2010/11
As part of a continuing commitment the publication of NHS Somerset’s performance data for 2010/11, against all Vital Signs, aims to support the Primary Care Trust in partnership working. The Vital Signs indicator set assesses performance of Primary Care Trusts against national commitments and local priorities as commissioners of services, for the financial year 2010/11.
